FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICE

The Challenge

With approximately 1,400 employees, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) provides 15 Nutrition Assistance programs to a variety of stakeholders across America, with a mission of increasing food security and reducing hunger by providing community access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education. FNS achieves their mission by providing grants to states and community service providers. As the needs of the American people have changed during COVID, FNS must also adjust their processes and ability to provide critical programs the American public.

Services

A-G uses a variety of data analysis techniques to assess FNS’ culture for elements of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement (EDIE) to develop and monitor strategic goals that ensure that individuals who come from different backgrounds are fully engaged, supported, and able to reach their potential in a virtual/hybrid environment. A-G also provides leadership training and facilitation services that enhance employee engagement.

Impact

A-G is helping to shape FNS’s cultural practices and enhance culture through improving EDIE practices. Our efforts have led to the enhancement of a strong, aligned leadership team with increased accountability. These efforts will allow for a more united agency with a lower turnover rate and a more productive staff, who will provide better services to the community.
