Community Behavioral Health
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
The Challenge
Established by the City of Philadelphia in 1997, Community Behavioral Health (CBH) administers behavioral health care services for the city’s approximately 470,000 Medicaid recipients. CBH manages a full continuum of behavioral health services and now offers expanded physical health services for comorbidities and chronic conditions. CBH employs more than 500 people and has an annual budget of more than $1 billion.
Services
Since 2013, CBH has transformed its system of care by
- incorporating increasingly integrated physical and mental health services,
- responding to greater needs for crisis intervention, including growing numbers of suicides and opioid-related cases,
- and managing critical demands for services resulting from the COVID-19 Global Pandemic.
Impact
CBH contracts with A-G Associates for services that are provided to CBH C-Level officers, senior management, and staff to provide business transformation services that impact CBH’s employees and those they serve. A-G Associates provides planning and execution support to strategic initiatives and assists CBH in actively transforming Philadelphia’s behavioral health system, which is rooted in approaches that promote recovery, resilience and self-determination. CBH’s shift to engaging its stakeholders with a population health approach builds on the strengths and resilience of individuals, family members, and other allies that will better address Philadelphia’s behavioral health challenges.
