10/4/24 (Columbia, MD) – A-G Associates is proud to announce the award of a new National Training & Qualifications Branch & Hazmat State Programs contract by the Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Office of Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (OHMS). This five-year task was awarded as an 8(a) Direct Award.
In support of the PHMSA mission to protect people and the environment by advancing the safe transportation of energy and other hazardous materials that are essential to our daily lives, the PMHSA OHMS oversees a national safety program to protect against the risks to life and property inherent in the transportation of hazardous materials in commerce by all transportation modes. To carry out this program and ensure the safety of professionals of all kinds handling hazardous materials, PHMSA OHMS engaged the A-G team to develop a detailed, flexible, and thorough new training program, to include instructional materials and assessment tools, to support both classroom-based and virtual training for diverse audiences with varying levels of experience with hazardous materials. This five-year effort will include conducting a comprehensive needs-assessment to analyze existing materials, identify knowledge gaps, and incorporate the latest regulatory demands; designing a curriculum to meet specific learning objectives aligned with federal, state, and local hazardous materials regulations; developing a full collection of instructional materials and assets to support learning objectives; and piloting the curriculum with a representative sample of the target audience in an iterative evaluation and feedback process to enhance outcomes.
“I am thrilled about the launch of our latest project with PHMSA OHMS, marking a significant advancement in A-G’s journey to assist the DOT in executing their vital mission,” commented A-G Vice President, Mark Stephens. “This new training program embodies our commitment to enhancing safety and operational excellence across critical sectors. By focusing on the development of comprehensive training solutions, we are not only expanding our capabilities but also playing a pivotal role in protecting citizens and bolstering the government’s efforts to safeguard our communities.”
As a trusted partner to DOT since 2022, A-G has a proven record supporting the agency’s on-going organizational advancement and workforce development efforts with DOT’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Motor carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This new contract represents A-G’s expanding footprint with the federal agency and deep expertise in organizational capacity building through curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
